Abstract
An examination of the narrative of Mt. 13.53-16.20 reveals a sustained effort on the part of the Evangelist to impart a certain cognitive understanding to the reader which might function as an antidote to the malady of 'little faith'. Relentlessly exploiting the shortcoming of the disciples to heighten the force of his message, Matthew endeav ors to impress upon his readership the inexhaustible greatness of the eschatological power present in Jesus Christ.
