Abstract
A study of the polemic of Acts 7, particularly with respect to the appeal made by Stephen to the example of Moses, leads to the conclusion that in its earliest stages the anti-Judaism of the New Testament was an expression not of anti-Semitism but of the sectarian remnant-mentality which was a common feature among the diverse movements of Second Temple Judaism.
