Abstract

In response to this article, I feel qualified in a small way to comment, as I am an ex-GP and now a volunteer vaccinator. Your plan is exactly right and addresses the issues we experience at our site in the West Midlands. 1 For example, I can no longer take consent as I retired too long ago so am not registered. Practically all the vaccination in this area is in community sites so hopefully this minimises the impact on primary care. However, using your figures we would be able to administer the target of 22,000 doses per site in about two weeks and not months. From our pool of active and reserve vaccinators, adding data inputters, vaccine drawer-uppers and clinical referees and administrators, we number about 150 and our maximum rate was 2200 doses per day.
I am sure the model presented in this paper is the right one and I hope it can be adopted by those who make these strategic decisions.
