Iain Milne considered the possibility that Lind's report of a controlled trial may be a fabrication1 and kindly cited my review.2 However the credit should instead go to Graham Sutton who knew, as I did not, that the ship's papers of HMS Salisbury survived and there were no sailors sick with scurvy on this ship in May 17473
