Brodie refers to Margaret Loane and Koven to Martha Jane Loane, both district nurses with publications from the same period whom I have taken to be the same person. However, Koven indicates that there is some confusion as to whom M. Loane (as books were published) was, and there is research to suggest that M. Loane may have also worked and written with her half sister Alice Ezra Loane (Koven, fn 35, p. 347).
