Abstract
Hungarian military education has undergone significant evolution since 1945. In spite of the recent changes implemented in officer training, it is unlikely that the manpower problems facing the Hungarian armed forces will be alleviated. It seems that as long as the Hungarian public continues to view the army negatively-as an economic burden and the ultimate guarantor of the survival of the regime-the best of Hungary's youth will ignore the military as a career choice.
