I contacted Simon & Schuster and learned that it was the second printer of Collins's book My Jihad and apparently had no responsibility for vetting its contents. Lyons Press originally published the book; however, Lyons published mainly books on fishing and was subsequently bought by Globe Pequot Press. I was finally contacted by the individuals who stewarded the book through publication. They felt that my disbelief was unfair and defended the account. For this reviewer, Collins's story is simply too far-fetched and arranged. Schwartz-Barcott should not have used it.

I checked with knowledgeable individuals, who indicated that this version is one of several that are generally acceptable to Islamic scholars as English translations.
