Abstract
New metallocene polymerized polyethylenes (mPE) with low densities possess elastomeric properties and show good dispersibility in poly-propylene (PP). Therefore substituting mPE for EPDM in PP/EPDM-blends has the potential to improve blend properties. However, their technical application requires knowledge of critical load values.
This work shows the deformation behavior of PP/EPDM- and PP/mPE-blends under static and dynamic loading. Dynamic load limits are obtained using the hysteresis measurement method. The influence of the type and the amount of soft phase on different mechanical properties is examined.
