Abstract
Chlorinated natural rubber (CIR)/epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) were prepared in a Brabender plasticorder. The blends were found to be self-crosslinkable during high temperature molding, without the aid of any ex traneous crosslinking agent. Such blends are partially miscible as studied by dynamic mechanical analyses. Carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) was found to act as a reactive compatibilizer for this blend. The quantity of XNBR re quired to make the ternary blend miscible varies with ClR/ENR blend ratio.
