Abstract
Ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) rubber was blended with different amounts of low density polyethylene (LDPE) up to 400 phr and subjected to different gamma radiation doses. Changes in the mechanical properties of the resulting blends were determined. An equation representing the effect of both radiation dose and LDPE concentration on the tensile strength of corresponding blend was empirically derived. Such an equa tion allows one to predict the tensile strength of the blend, knowing the radia tion dose and LDPE concentration.
