Effect of Temperature On Relative Flammability and Toxicity of Plastics

Abstract

The relative flammability and toxicity of the off- gases from five plastics and wood were studied as a function of temperature. Relative flammability appeared to increase more rapidly with temperature than relative toxicity at temperatures from 300 to 600°C, and to increase less rapidly with temperature than relative toxicity at temperatures from 600 to 800°C, for the majority of the materials studied.
