One valuable approach to the study of structure- property relationships of the polyurethanes utilizes optical micro scopy as an analyical tool for system characterization. Using such contrast methods as phase contrast, polarization, interferometry and fluorescence, it is possible to characterize bulk as well as molecular parameters to include anisotropy, molecular density, composition, orientation and organization of the polymer system.
