Abstract
There is a very wide range of physical property requirements for engine gaskets. For example, sealing pressures may range from 150 psi to 3000 psi, temperature spans of several hundred degrees are normally encountered and resistance of hot oil, fuels, air and water are of prime importance. By employing elastomeric binders such as polychloroprene, butadieneacrylonitrile, chlorosulfonated polyethylene or polyacrylates, gasket compositions have been de veloped which perform quite satisfactorily in this type of service.
