Abstract
The various types of materials that have been used to seal bridge joints have been reviewed. Some of the bridge engineers joint material requirements have been listed together with the advantages and disadvantages of the three most widely used bridge joint sealants being specified and used today. It is felt that the cold applied two component asphalt-modified polyurethane sealants come closest to answering the needs for a bridge joint sealant over the other types of materials.
