Abstract
The accelerated aging of High Density Polyethylene geomembranes exposed to the leachate obtained from the municipal landfill of a suburb of Athens (Ano Liosia), was studied at 50°C for 4 months. The change of properties as a function of aging was assessed after 30, 60, 90, and 120 days immersion, via Tensile testing, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, ATR Spectroscopy, Hardness, and Melt Flow Index measurements. From the obtained results, it appeared that minor changes of the above properties take place under the experimental conditions of our study.
