Abstract
Women in Chile were politicized and mobilized during the 1970-1973 period in unprecedented numbers. A full understanding of the character of that political activity and the women who carried it out must await one of several studies of Chilean women that are now being written. In the meantime, we offer Pat Gar rett-Schesch's answer to David Belnap's article that appeared in the Los Angeles Times and left the impression among some readers that women in Chile were in deed political but only on the side of the right-wing perpetrators of the coup.
