Abstract
The volume and contents of a television program exchange between the Eurovision and Intervision TV networks and linking Eastern and Western Europe are examined in an attempt to throw light on the contemporary discussions of cultural dependency. The study found an imbalance in the flow of TV programs between East and West. The apparent dependency of the socialist countries, however, cannot be explained in strict political terms, but must be considered in the global context of relative wealth and population size.
