Abstract
This compilation of annotated references is intended to provide psychotherapists and, to a lesser extent, lawyers with accurate information about the nature and implications of the Tarasoff decision that psychotherapists have a duty to protect the potential victims of their clients' dangerous behavior. Included are works published in the psychological, psychiatric, and legal literature from 1975 to 1993. References are classified under six topics: (a) reviews and commentaries, (b) legal analyses, (c) therapist surveys, (d) treatment implications, (e) confidentiality, and (f) AIDS.
