Abstract
Located in an uncertain, indefinite, and inconsistent legal area somewhere between insanity and an involuntary act, there exists a form of physiological reaction which may result in violent behavior patterns that have the characteristics of both insanity and an involuntary act. These phenomena occupy a blurry place in the criminal act defense armamentarium. As a result, the defense faces an uncertain fate in the courts.
