Abstract
A consultation room approach to the reduction or resolution of the human problems involved in child custody follows a therapeutic model in which open and frank discussions occur between all parties. Information obtained through psychological tests, clinical interviews, etc., is fed back into the consultation process in order to further clarify and define the existing problems. Legal restraints to the use of the therapeutic consultation room approach are more apparent than real. A willing psychiatrist may find the court and attorneys very cooperative in assisting the consultation room process.
