Social workers and social service agencies are, or should be, intimately involved with children in foster care and those who choose to care for them. There are situations, however, where the relationship fails, with potentially disastrous results for the children. Three cases, each with a different outcome, are presented to alert a variety of professionals to the problems that may occur and possible preventive measures.
