Abstract
The current status of clinical trials in Taiwan is rapidly changing. The Taiwan government is actively encouraging the initiation and conduct of early phase clinical trials in Taiwan with the implementation of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Preliminary experience suggests that early phase clinical trials can be successfully performed in Taiwan with good quality comparable to international clinical trial standards. Further reduction in the local clinical trial approval time and cost are needed before Taiwan can be competitive in international clinical research.
