Abstract
The pharmaceutical industry must direct additional focus on the development of agents to prevent or minimize symptoms of cancer and its treatment, and maximize the quality of life of cancer patients. This paper covers the current status of cancer chemotherapy, opportunites for intervention, supportive care measures, and challenges to the pharmaceutical industry in oncologic drug development.
