Abstract
A methodology is developed for improving the bidding and negotiating processes for acquiring contract research organization (CRO) clinical trials professional services. The methodology involves a request for prices for these services such that the prices can be weighed against technical merit and capabilities of the CRO and against bids by other CROs. By asking for a structured, detailed price breakout for specified cost items, a sponsor can significantly reduce prices and prevent cost overruns.
