Abstract
The focus of the pharmaceutical industry has changed significantly over the last year or two. The demand for efficiency has suddenly become a major issue. Most companies are concerned with cutting costs and shortening development time for new products. This general concern also has an effect on clinical data management, its priorities, and its routines.
This paper describes how the changing focus has affected Data Management at Nycomed Imaging. It will also briefly outline a few of the actions Nycomed has taken or plans to take in the near future in answer to the new challenge. This includes issues such as data entry pool, clinical systems development, standardization, alternative data capture, categorization of data, improving routines, and computer system validation.
