Abstract
This paper reviews the United Kingdom's experience in counterfeit medicines. Although few cases of counterfeiting have been uncovered, it is believed that these are only the tip of the iceberg, presenting a real threat to the public and to the pharmaceutical industry. The initiatives of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, as well as the cooperation between industry, the Medicines Control Agency, and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain to combat this problem are discussed.
