The process of computer system validation in clinical research has the goal of providing reliable and credible data as a basis for critical conclusions and decisions which are drawn from this data. Practical examples show that this validation must be established as an ongoing process. A specially tailored application of total quality management techniques might be considered an economical tool to achieve the target.
