Abstract
The use of herbal medicines in Canada has been increasing. Under Canadian law, most herbal preparations marketed in the country are considered drugs. Regulators have found a balance between regulating substances about which a vast dossier of validated data exists and those which have been used for years but are known only in folklore by dividing herbal medicines into these two classes. This paper details regulation of efficacy, labeling, quality, and place of sale of herbal medicines.
