Consumer Perspective on Clinical Testing of Drugs in the Elderly

Abstract

The American Association of Retired Persons maintains a vital interest in promoting greater testing and surveillance of drug use in the elderly. The whole range of issues such as chronic drug use, socioeconomic factors, ethical considerations, and consistency must be emphasized in any ongoing effort. Continued efforts to encourage drug testing and surveillance, as well as support services for elderly drug consumers, should be maintained.
