As oppressive systems increasingly confront Christians around the world, the problem of when the church is to be a prophetic voice and when it is to be a suffering servant is ever with us. Here Dr. Sawatzky traces some of the historical roots of the church-state conflict in Taiwan and suggests some issues that must be grappled with by all Christians living under authoritarian governments.
