Tracing the rise and fall of racism among evangelical missionaries, Professor Hexham shows us that there are no categories that neatly fit the evidence and no answers to the questions that such a study provokes. However it is important for us with historical hindsight to ponder the racism of the 19th century in view of the fact that we still live with its effects.
