Abstract
Nothing is so important in effective missionary service as the dynamic, ongoing interplay between the field missionary and the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit in his heart and life. Father Martin, writing from a rich missionary experience in which he knew his life as “hid with Christ in God,” details the essentials of the spiritual formation of the missionary and those which should characterize the life of the mission community. He underscores the exciting possibilities for effective witness and outgoing service made possible by the wise use of Holy Scripture and the gifts of the Spirit.
