Abstract
At the 1976 meeting of the American Society of Missiology, the papers presented and responses given viewed “American missions from a bicentennial perspective.” In his Presidential Address which follows, Father Luzbetak evaluates both our attitudes and our progress toward establishing culturally authentic churches among diverse peoples. This he does not only from the perspective of the 200-year period now ended. He also takes a realistic forward look from this vantage point and notes how much we have yet to accomplish.
