Abstract
It is paradoxical that those most highly motivated to give, with regard to their time and talents, e. g. foreign missionaries, experience such inner wrenching when it comes to sharing their personal wealth with others. Most often this tension does not occur because of blatant unwillingness to share, but simply because missionaries, particularly the newly arrived, are not aware of distinctive Philippine patterns of sharing. Fulfilling one's obligation to share, in socially acceptable ways, may help to alleviate personal tension and at the same time enhance the prospect of vital communication with individuals in the Philippines.
