Abstract
Mythologies of New Guinea peoples were analyzed in terms of “themes,” “motifs,” “plots” and “moral” in an effort to understand the peoples and their cultures and specifically to find adequate vocabulary for Bible translation. Both the advantages and disadvantages of this approach are discussed.
