Abstract
This is a controversial and stimulating paper in which Dr. Jackson asks some hard questions about missionary strategy. The “old patterns” which he advocates have not all fallen into disuse or disrepute among all missionary groups. But most readers familiar with the patterns of Protestant missionary activity, or one branch of it, will be jolted at one point or another. Dr. Jackson's suggestions are not all of the kind that could be implemented over night. They are too fundamental. We hope that they will stimulate some long second thoughts, some earnest study, some sharp discussion, and some humble prayer for God's strategy for the spread of the church in this generation. It is obvious we do not have it now. We hope also that they will stimulate a new sense of dedication to Obedience.
