Abstract
Group conversion and effective communication are two contemporary subjects of missionary discussion. Both are highlighted in the following incident, a recounting of the ceremony of group conversion among New Guinea peoples at the beginning of the century. The effectiveness of the ceremony should give us all pause. As the account begins here, it follows a brief description of the early days of the missionaries, their sacrifice, their illness, and death.
