Abstract
In the aftermath of the Cold War, we need a new framework for understanding geopolitical realities. Samuel Huntington's analysis of world civilizations is a bold attempt to provide a model. Although inadequate from a theological and missiological viewpoint, it offers us a place from which to start thinking about the future of mission. It is argued that reconciliation will be foundational for missionary witness in the future; but we also need to engage in new strategic thinking that will enable Christians to address the emerging geopolitical situation on the basis of gospel imperatives rather than being co-opted by other forces.
