How do missionary children (MKs) become world Christians? In an effort to answer this question, Christian commitment and worldmindedness were measured in a sample of 533 adult children of missionaries to Brazil. Several correlates were examined and the results reveal a basic dichotomy between the local culture and the MK school in that MK schools are positively associated with Christian commitment but negatively with worldmindedness, while cultural involvement is positively associated with worldmindedness and negatively with Christian commitment. The research suggests important implications for the development of worldmindedness and Christian commitment especially in an MK school and overseas context.
