In an attempt to find correlations between psychology and theology and East and West, the article centered on three key concepts: identity, faith, and maturity. These concepts are related in their common emphasis on internal integration which is manifested in identity formation, the Holy Trinity, and the Confucian self-cultivation as well as Taoist sagehood. The quality of sameness which characterizes the process of identity formation is theologically significant in the understanding of eternity and the Eternal who is the source of maturity. Also, the three concepts are tied together by love and community in historical contexts.
