Abstract
The study of guilt is central to any effective integration of psychology and theology. Guilt, and its related concept, sin, is certainly a central issue of theology. Likewise the phenomenon of guilt is one of the most crucial issues facing psychotherapists. After a brief discussion of the many forms guilt takes, this article traces in outline form the development of the guilt emotion through the process of internalization. Following that an analysis is made of the constituent elements of the guilt emotion.
