For my response, I engaged with the English translation of Kogan, which was hermeneutical, given that a translation required the translator to infer the meaning of the words of another. Utilizing Winnicott’s concept of transitional space, I approached my response as a reflection on this reality, where the author and I interacted as embedded and embodied in a space somewhere between her culture and mine. I reflected on the content as well as affective tone, posing questions when I experienced disjunction or dissonance, and exploring in more detail when I experienced resonance.
