Abstract
This paper presents typical interactions and experiences of residents and staff in three substance abuse treatment/recovery programs (two social model, one medical model) that were subjects of in-depth qualitative observation and analysis in the Social Model Process Evaluation. The descriptions, based on observed events, are amalgamations of several different residents and staff members at each program in order to present a seamless “story” of a typical day. The current paper presents a composite picture of what it is like to be a client or a staff member at each of the three study sites, as well as providing an overall description of each site.
