Die doel van die ondersoek was om die ‘Maslach Burnout Inventory’ (MBI) in Afrikaans te vertaal, sekere items by te voeg en die betroubaarheid en geldigheid van die vraelys te bepaal. Die steekproef het bestaan uit 82 N.G. Kerk-predikante van die Wes-Transvaalse Ring. Die MBI, Sestien-Persoonlikheidsfaktorvraelys, IPAT-Angsskaal, ‘Personal Orientation Inventory’ en 'n semi-gestruktureerde vraelys is as meetinstrumente gebruik. Die voorlopige gevolgtrekking word gemaak dat die aangepaste MBI 'n betroubare en geldige meting van uitbranding is binne die konteks waarin dit geëvalueer is.
