Abstract
The aim of the Test Commission of the RSA (TCRSA) is to promote the usefulness of tests and prevent misuse of such tests and questionnaires, while at the same time an effort is made to maintain and extent the standard of professional development of psychological tests.
The classification of tests is one of the most important tasks of the Test Commission. Tests are classified into three categories, namely C, B and A tests. The differences between the three categories of tests as well as the differences between the users of A tests, psychotechnicians and psychometrists, are pointed out.
An explanation of the terms, ‘control of a test’ and ‘use of a test’ is given and the types of tests that may be used by the persons registered in the various categories, are discussed. Reference is also made to the misuse of tests and the consequences of such misuse.
