Die ondersoek is gedoen om te bepaal in watter mate artefakte die resultate van bioterugvoering beïnvloed. Vier groepe is elk aan vier eksperimentele sessies onderwerp waartydens hulle harttempo vermeerder en verminder is. Die wyse waarop artefakte die resultate sou kon beïnvloed is tussen die groepe gevarieer. Resultate dui op 'n tendens om beter resultate te kry tydens streng kontrole van die artefakte. Die gevolgtrekking word gemaak dat artefakte moontlik 'n negatiewe uitwerking op die beheer van die hartritme kan uitoefen.
