Abstract
A number of variables affecting and affected by an individual's food intake are identified. More specifically this article deals with the extent to which healthy psychological functioning is impaired if food intake is nutritionally inappropriate, and the extent to which healthy psychological functioning is facilitated when dietary management is implemented. These questions are posed and discussed in the wider context of the relation between psychophysiological functioning and dietary regulation.
