It has been suggested that researchers comparing causal models across
populations employ path regression coefficients corrected for unreliability.
This procedure, however, does not eliminate the problem of differences in the
units of measure across populations. This paper outlines a technique designed
to eliminate this problem by comparing "effect ratios," rather than effect
coefficients, across populations. Both hypothetical and real data are used to
demonstrate the technique.
