The impact of development projects on displaced people particularly tribals have been one of the most important concerns in recent times. The paper has assessed the impact of Subarnarekha Multipurpose Project (SMP), in West Singhbhum district of Bihar and is based on a sample study. The paper brings out the problems of the people who have already been uprooted and are in various stages of resettlement and rehabilitation and also of those who are to face eviction in the future. The paper also brings out the feelings of the people that they have been misled, misinformed and cheated and in no way it has been for the benefit of the people.
