Abstract
This issue is to mark the 100th anniversary of the International Women’s Day. In this introduction to the issue, as guest editor, I attempt to traverse the issue of women’s rights with a focus on selected feminist perspectives on women’s suffrage, knowledge, curriculum and education. In the first part I attempt to map the suffragist movement, the early international women’s day. The second part is an attempt to bring attention to feminist thought on knowledge and world view. The third part provides a brief outline of issues in the context of India. The fourth part focuses on education and the last part introduces the contributors to the issue.
